Become a Referee

Referees are needed for your child - and their friends - to play safe, fun and fair AYSO games.

Thank you! You just took your first step toward becoming a referee in AYSO Region 213.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of the most highly respected referee programs around.

There are several steps that you will need to take to become a referee:

  1. You need to register as a volunteer. CLICK HERE for instructions for completing your volunteer application.
  2. Once you are a registered volunteer, you will need some training. The first class – AYSO Safe Haven – is available online at AYSO Training

  3. You will then need some referee training.  The Basic Referee class is eight (8) hours of training available through two different experiences. The first experience type is in a classroom (still the best way to get trained). The second experience type is to combine online training from AYSO Training with a short classroom experience.
For a detailed list of available referee training classes, go our training page for more information.
  4. At the end of your training, we will strongly suggest you the referee email mailing list. Instructions for joining our email list are found here: CLICK HERE.

After you have passed your training class, you will be entered into our referee scheduling system. The web page with the links to the schedule as well as links to instructions for first time users and for our scheduling guidelines can be found here: Referee Scheduling.

Thank you again for volunteering to referee. If you have any questions, please send them to rra@aysosoccer.org.
